The history of the square in the center of Tashkent named after Amir Timur, the commander and founder of a huge medieval empire, began as early as in the XIX century, when Tashkent was the center of the Turkestan Military Command, composing the Russian Empire.

The Minor mosque is one of the new sights of Tashkent located in the new part of the city. It was opened on 1 October 2014, on the eve of the Eid holiday, and has become one of the favorite places of city residents for evening strolls. Its capacity is more than 2400 people.

History of Museum of Applied Art of Uzbekistan dates back to 1927 when the first exhibition of artworks by artists of Uzbekistan was held here. The Museum of Applied Art fund lists over 7,000 samples of applied arts: handmade embroidery, skull caps (tyubeteyka), jewelry, carpets and other examples of craftsmanship of the beginning of the 19th century to present day.
Chorsu Bazaar, Tashkent’s best-known market, is impressive both inside and out. The tendency of construction of such bazaars with a complex of covered premises began in XI century and went on up to XIII century. In our century this bazaar inherited land and premises of previous centuries.
